Still Here

April 14th, 2019 at 03:25 pm

I haven't blogged for a while, but I do keep up with reading them!

Last night my brother, SIL, nephew, niece, her boyfriend and I went out for dinner and surprise! My niece and her boyfriend are engaged! We had a fun celebratory dinner and my brother picked up the tab. Our family has been through so much lately with serious health issues so this was a welcome, happy announcement.

I enjoyed a broiled crabcake, side of broccoli, and a salad for dinner. I had an unsweetened ice tea for my drink. I have been making a real effort to eat better, less processed food, more fresh fruits, veggies, etc. Instead of attempting yet another failed diet, I decided on a life style change. For the past month I have been making these changes and sticking to them. At first, it was really hard, but now I am craving sugar, and starches, and junk food much less. I lost 7 pounds since I started. I am also consistently walking 5 days a week with my mall walking buddies, and now that the weather is better we sometimes meet at the park. I have more energy and am sleeping better too.

Financially, things are steady. I continue to live frugally and save as much as possible. I still have the goal of retiring from full time work on June 1st 2020, so just over a year to go.

I have this week off for spring break and have quite a list of things to do. It will be nice to have the time to spread these things out over the week and not try cramming it all in on the weekend!

We are supposed to get severe thunderstorms overnight tonight with a risk of tornadoes. I hope it's not too bad.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I think the lifestyle change is the answer. I am still struggling, but I have made some decent decisions like no soda, very few chips.
